Surname DNA Project
This particular family DNA project
began on March 8, 2004 by Debby Reagan. In her
search for common ancestors, Debby found that there were many Reagan's
who immigrated here to the US, particularly in New England. Especially
as she found that certain records weren't always kept or were
inaccurate. She had hit a brick wall only 4 generations back! Figuring
that others may also have had the same difficulties she experienced;
she decided that there must be a better way to find out much detailed
outlets to collect genealogical information and found it at Family
Tree DNA.
Reagan, Regan, Ragan, Ragon, Raogan,
Riagain and the various other variations (including the O' and Mc/Mac)
are welcome to join this project. Our goal is to find our MANY cousins
& kin that fill out the branches of the Ua Riagain family tree.
Hopefully, in becoming a participant in this survey, we'll all have a
valuable resource to further the family's genealogical information.
There is a new DNA testing project
called The Genographic Project that plans to map the route the human
family took to populate our planet. This project will last for five
years and is in a partnership with National Geographic and IBM with
support from the Waitt Family Foundation and public participation
through Family Tree DNA, the same company that is hosting the Reagan
DNA Family Surname project.
Through the efforts of National Geographic and other outlets through
out the world the general public can become a part of this project. If
you are already a member of the Reagan surname DNA project you can or
soon will be able to sign up for the Genographic project. The
procedure is simple, all you have to do is logon to the Family Tree
DNA website
www.familytreedna.com type in your logon kit number and password
and once you are in your personal page click on the tab “Genographic
Project” for instructions.
There is a small fee to join the project which will go directly to the
National Geographic Society who will use the funds to support local
education and cultural preservation efforts to benefit the
participating indigenous populations.
It is our hope at
www.ClanReagan.org that many people with the Reagan/Regan/Ragan
etc. surname will participate in this worthwhile project so that we
will learn more about our ancient ancestors, help the National
Geographic Society and become more aware, as a family, who we are.

Please contact the project administrator
Debby Reagan to join and for
more information.
